In this article, we are going to talk about 35 old women, who can wear amazing outfits, without being scared to look weird. Every woman has a unique style, no matter if she is in her 20’s or 30’s. Of course, you gonna feel a bit mature, once you hit 35.
As you enter your 30s, you may find that your wardrobe needs an update. Whether you’re starting a new job, going on a date, or attending a special occasion, you want to look and feel your best. However, dressing in your 30s can be challenging, especially if you’re not sure where to start. In this post, we’ll discuss fashion tips for women over 30 and provide outfit ideas to help you dress confidently and stylishly.
But there is nothing to be scared of, all you need is to wear something more classy, that still looks impressive.
The thing about dressing for your age is silly. Why? No one should tell you what to wear, you know how to make things happen. But there are basic rules for older women that should not be avoided. First of all, sop wearing all those graphic tees, they are cool, but not for your age.
Understanding Your Style
Before we dive into fashion tips, it’s important to understand your personal style. This will help you choose clothes that flatter your body and reflect your personality. To do this, follow these steps:
Recognize your body shape: Knowing your body shape will help you choose clothes that highlight your best features. Common body shapes include pear, apple, hourglass, and rectangle.
Understand your personal style: Do you prefer classic, trendy, or bohemian clothing? Take a look at your closet to see what type of clothes you already own and feel confident in.
Identify your wardrobe staples: Wardrobe staples are essential pieces that can be mixed and matched with other items. Examples include a classic white t-shirt, a pair of jeans, and a little black dress.
Fashion Tips for Women Over 30
Now that you have a better understanding of your style, let’s discuss fashion tips for women over 30.
Invest in quality pieces: As you enter your 30s, it’s a good idea to invest in quality pieces that will last. These include well-made shoes, a tailored blazer, and a high-quality handbag.
Don’t be afraid to try new trends: Just because you’re in your 30s doesn’t mean you have to stick to boring clothing. Experiment with new trends, but choose pieces that flatter your body and suit your personal style.
Dress for your body type: Wearing clothes that flatter your body will make you look and feel confident. For example, if you have an hourglass shape, wear clothes that highlight your waist.
Accessorize with intention: Accessories can make or break an outfit. Choose accessories that complement your clothing and suit the occasion.
Dress for the occasion: Whether you’re attending a wedding or a job interview, make sure you dress appropriately for the occasion.
Invest in versatile pieces
Invest in versatile pieces that can be dressed up or down to suit various occasions. This includes classic blouses, tailored pants, and well-fitted blazers. These items can be worn to work or paired with jeans and sneakers for a more casual look. A little black dress is also a great investment piece that can be worn to a variety of events.
Accessorize wisely
Accessories can make or break an outfit, so choose wisely. Invest in classic pieces that will stand the test of time, such as a simple gold or silver necklace, a leather watch, and a structured handbag. Scarves are also a great accessory that can add interest to an outfit and can be worn in a variety of ways.
Find a signature style
As you get older, it’s important to find a signature style that works for you. This doesn’t mean you have to stick to one particular look, but rather find a few key pieces and styles that you feel confident and comfortable in. This could be a specific color or pattern, a certain type of silhouette, or a particular accessory.
Keep it simple
When it comes to dressing in your late 30s, less is often more. Stick to simple, classic pieces and avoid trends that may not suit your personal style or body type. This doesn’t mean you have to stick to boring basics, but rather choose items that are timeless and can be worn for years to come.
Have fun with fashion
Above all, have fun with fashion! Don’t be afraid to experiment with different styles, colors, and patterns to find what works for you. Fashion is a form of self-expression, so embrace it and enjoy the process of finding your own unique style.
Beautiful Dresses For Older Women
A simple navy dress with tortoise rounded sunglasses and layered necklaces will be a good start for women over 30.
What I love about dresses, then it’s their versatility. You can be old, young or mature, but you can still wear a dress. If you need inspiration, then I highly recommend checking out my favorite ideas on lace dresses, I am sure everyone will find here something special. Bedazzled sequins and shiny tassels can be replaced with metallic items. No, I am not telling you to stop wearing your favorite sequined dress, but make sure it’s colored in a mature hue. Don’t go for neon shades, it’s stupid.
Office Style Inspired Outfits
Don’t be shy and wear office inspired looks. Here we see a good example, on how to combine a navy blazer with cream beige chinos and suede ankle boots.
Speaking of pink tops and bright red pants, then it’s another category that can be replaced with simple classy color pieces, like a white top and black pants. I am not saying you should stop wearing pink or red, just make sure it’s a complimentary color that underlines your personality.
Windowpane grey dress ideally suits older women, it makes them look elegant and sophisticated, complete this look with a pair of classy sassy pumps and a spacious handbag:
If we are talking about sparkling skinny jeans, mini skirts, cut-offs paired with crop tops, then I am 100% sure, it will make you look weird.
Black and white will never die. Go for a monochrome outfit by teaming a black blazer with a white sweater and black pants:
Of course, everything depends on your body type and how much anti-aging cream you are using (joke). You should never risk your comfort zone. If you are okay to wear skinnies, crop tops and nobody throws bad jokes on your back, then you are okay to go. You should always keep your outfit modern, classy and functional. I know many women who try to dress like real Parisian ladies, once they hit thirty.
How about teaming a black top with khaki green high-rise pants, a kind of military touch is felt in this combo:
Monochrome Trend Is Still Popular
Go for pastel cream-beige look and make it elegant and sophisticated. I do love once color outfit ideas.
Mix Casual With Dressy
You might wear girlish pieces, but be sure to complete them with edgy and casual pieces. Here we see a cargo jacket styled with a striped top and pleated skirt in blush.
A modern lady should always go for a look that is flattering, age-appropriate and trendy. Go for apparel that feels comfy and wears easily. You should always imagine how do you look from a side, if you do like it, then nobody should stop you from buying that or another thing. By the way, even dresses and sneakers outfit ideas look awesome on older women.
Cardigan Will Be Your Friend
I recommend 35 old women to try this long cardigan, a perfect choice for long casual street walks.
Another long cardigan in white color. It will be a perfect update and layering piece for your overall look:
Always try to experiment. We see a khaki desert cargo dress completed with stylish blush pumps:
If you start asking yourself, if you are okay to wear it, then don’t buy it. Below are gathered my favorite outfit ideas for women over 35. Each look was found in the streets of big cities, so you know for sure, everything works just fine!
You should always play fun. Go for a structured skirt suit and complete it with a cool bucket hat:
You can always have fun with contemporary and futuristic clothes, just make sure you are not overloading the look. By the way, a black biker jacket with a grey dress and cool kicks is a good alternative for casual errands:
35 Old Women Try To Combine Classics With Modern
No matter what is your age, you can still look ladylike, elegant, or any like you want. Once you hit 35, you psychically start to think differently, more mature. Below are gathered impressive street style looks and ideas that perfectly suit ladies who want to make a standout appearance, but still, look appropriate.
Women Over 30 Should Try Different Shapes And Silhouettes
I know many ladies who try to combine different shapes and silhouettes. This simple tip can easily make you look special at any place and time. I do love to see women who wear wide-leg pants in different ways. It makes me think of the seventies style comeback.
No woman can live without a dress, just make sure to choose the appropriate style and length:
I know many women in their 40 who manage to wear contemporary clothes without looking out of place. Yes, thirty-five and forty old women do look the same, that’s why I am thinking of making a post on women over 40 style ideas, as I have lots of inspiring looks to share with you.
White Blouse And Black Pants Are Classics
A white top and black pants is a safe combo, be sure to complete it with some fancy accessories and details.
Oversized and baggy clothing is another trend for 35 old women, you can always play with your shape, just make sure you do it right:
Don’t Be Shy To Try Athleisure
If you do like to take risks, then how about adding a sporty touch? Go for joggers or athleisure style track pants and style them with classic tops.
What you need is to start caring about yourself the way you are, in other words, love yourself and your body and the way you look. By the way, you can still wear skirts, this garment will be a great choice teaming with knits. I made a post on ways how to wear skirts with sweaters, check it out, you gonna find incredible combos that are easy to style in real life.
Bonus Tips On What To Wear When You Are Over 30:

Buy Neutral Color Silk Blouse
The next thing that should be bought by women in their 30’s is a neutral colored silk blouse. It’s another great piece that can be paired with pretty much anything. Here we see a silk blouse in black tucked in black skinny jeans. Complete this look by adding cat-eye sunglasses:
Silhouette-Flattering Black Blazer For Women Over 35
My personal must-have for women over 35 is a black blazer in silhouette-flattering design. Style it with a white top and black skinny jeans:

Invest In Classic Trench Coat
Outerwear is another topic. Here we see a must-have classic beige trench-coat that can be used for casual and formal events. Layer it over a blue dress and complete the look by adding nude pointed-toe caged pumps embellished with studs:
Buy Classic Leather Belt
Any outfit should be completed with accessories. A belt is a useful accessory, so you better buy the classic one. Here we see a cream-white sweater tucked in blue jeans completed with a classic black leather belt:

Stay away from low-rise jeans and go for high-waisted jeans. We see ankle-length light blue high-rise mom jeans style,d with a grey pullover, camel fedora hat, and brown ankle-boots:
Ankle Length Pants For The Office
If you work in the office, then go for ankle-length pants. Here we see a good example, the lady is wearing a white sweater tucked in khaki green wide-leg ankle-length pants completed with ankle-cuff heeled sandals in black and Wayfarer sunglasses:
What You Should Not Wear:
Low Rise Jeans, Jeggings, Vibrant Print Jackets and Suits, Mary Janes, funky sneakers, tube tops, crop tops, mini skirts, leather mini skirts, bodycon dresses, college outfits, rompers, playsuits, cut-offs.
Sure thing, everything is individual. I can’t say for sure that once you hit 35, all your older clothes should be changed, but the basic rules remain the same, invest in classics and try to avoid all those college and youthful bright print items. Go for comfortable outfits and complete them with your favorite accessories and jewelry. Dig it? Believe me, dressing for your age might be tricky sometimes, but the result is going to be unforgettable. What about you, what do you wear when you’re 35

I am 37, do these ideas work for women who are older than 35? Where can I buy those black slim pants you shown in this collection?
Jessie, the rules for dressing “your age” honestly don’t matter any more. Unless there is a dress code at your workplace? this silly and arbitrary thing needs to be chucked in the bin.
I remember long ago, hearing that women after a certain age should never ever ever ever wear a mini-skirt. Then I saw Joan Rivers wear one. And another. She looked great. You know that lady knew fashion, and what looked good on her. I have never forgotten that!
I thought then that she was able to look great because she was so thin. But eventually, realized that many women over 40 were wearing cool textured tights/stockings with minis, and they looked fabulous. In the last few years, I have added to that knowledge that size also doesn’t matter. If YOU wear an outfit you love? That you are comfortable in, makes you feel good – confident, pretty, stylish? Just do it! Hold your head high! This is a great time for all women in fashion!
I love that online stores are showing how clothing looks on a size 4 model and a size 14. I hope that will happen more and more, since so many people are shopping online now (I’m disabled so I had a head start on this!) No offense to the Blogger, but I’m the same age as Jennifer Aniston, and this “over 35” thing is crazy . Have any of you seen Aniston start dressing “old”? Nope, she still looks great all the time. Fashion should be fun.
(I loved your kimono section but none of the links worked, there are some really beautiful ones and I love how they are styled -couldn’t find a commenting option, so here’s a two in one)
I would also like to know if these styles are appropriate for women above 35 but not 40 yet.
Why would they not be? Wow…..
I think these are transitional ideas not hard line age guide.
I do not think you’ll be given the scarlet letter. Nothing in the list that is age inappropriate….
Know you and what makes you happy.
Oh, ladies!
I promise you, the day you turn 40, you will not suddenly feel you must dress differently than you did throughout your 30s. This “over 36 but not yet 40” thought ? That’s just 3 years.
The fashion police haven’t ticketed me for wearing pretty much the same, classic, not super trendy clothes I have always worn.
I will look at an outfit online and think “That is definitely too young for me”. But that’s just a gut instinct. Trust yours! (Or have a friend who will be absolutely honest with you!) And buy – if you don’t already have one – a full-length mirror. I’ve always had one, the kind that goes on the door of your bed or bathroom.
That way you can always see the whole outfit at once, head to toe.
Why would you assume otherwise? The styles are not for 35 year olds alone but for women 35 and over. Of course 40 is such a significant age, new advise may be appropriate then. 35-40 year old women are the EXACT audience for this article.
I am 42, do these styles fit me if I am a slim woman 173cm height? with normal body shape? I do like the 3,4 and 7 looks. tell me where can i buy the similar clothes
What are pile of bullshit. Wear want no matter what age you are. Concentrate if you did good enough to the world at the age of 35 rather than if OMG can I have those pants on?
Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit. You should be ashamed for the articles like that.
I think these types of blog posts are grey for some people genuinely looking for ideas but at the same time I hate that thereโs a โwhat to wear at a certain ageโ thing. I think we should wear whatever we want & not have to stop wearing certain things just because weโre a certain age. Wear whatever you want ladies!
Hmmmm…. lots of turtle necks, and high colar blouses, long sleeves and high neck lines. Paired with long skirts and long pants… has a feel of fifty attempting to look 35, instead of actual 35 looking 35? I feel more like I should put myself on the “I am no longer sexy”shelf after looking at the visuals attached to this article. Or, maybe that’s what the fashion industry aims to make 35 year old women feel??? Not saying that 50 looking 35 isn’t sexy because it is, when done correctly.
I think I will not take it personally…. but I will continue to look 25 even though I am 35 thanks…
Older woman. You are very judgmental.
Iโm right thereโs with you.
I donโt agree with the term that people in their 30s areโolder women โ. I am in my late 30s and I have a six-year-old son and Iโm raising him as a single mom. And right now I have to change careers from a nurse because of COVID-19. It is just a let down that you would consider my age range as an older woman. But thank you
Since women live on average to be about 80 now? We have plenty of time to be “old”. 35 is not that time ๐
And God bless you Ama, I can’t imagine raising a child alone and working with this pandemic going on. I wish we women could find ways to support each other. I’m single with too much time on my hands, and hate that I haven’t been allowed to help by baby sitting or anything for women like you. I hope we can all figure out a way to help each other.
I have just turned 36 and was casually browsing. Clicked on the above out of idle curiosity and this article horrified me.
You are in your darn prime! My mother had my youngest brother at 38, with three of us under age 8 – an ‘older woman’ could hardly have coped with that debacle!
I honestly can’t believe anyone has the absolute gall to tell us we shouldn’t consider skirts of a certain length or (God forbid!) low rise jeans. Not for everyone, but I’m 5ft 2 and low rise are the only jeans that don’t cut me off just below the armpit – hardly flattering!
I can only assume the writer of the article is very very young, male, or simply deeply misled. Pity is clearly the order of the day.
One day, they’ll look back on this and realise how daft and offensive they were. Or, they themselves will be wearing largely unflattering and dated stereotypical clothing. I imagine the writer also frowns on women over a certain age having long hair!
I think I’ll continue wearing clothes that suit my body type and personal style, regardless of the recommended age group and I hope you do the same.
35 is not โolderโ. My mom always told me that 35 was when a woman was at her prime. (And again thatโs just her opinion- she is 65 and stunning ). But you are still young, but now have experience and confidence to just make you stand taller and appreciate yourself more . This article is ridiculous. Wear what makes you feel beautiful.
I too a Sr citizen lol, wear what looks good on me, whether skinny torn jeans or beaded gown. Some say I look like a teenager at times, others may compliment the look or style. But I like stylish looks … always have. I am limited on heels unfortunately, must wear comfy flats 99% of time due to all my life in 4 inchers. ๐
too SENSITIVE. ever heard THAT before?
Just dress to impress yourself, not others! Don’t judge yourself by the age!
Lol, loving these comments. Thank you for the laughter, some of you are a little uptight. Iโm 36 and literally googled ideas on what to wear. I appreciate the article and itโs more of a polished look than I normally wear, but Iโm in Portland, where itโs much more relaxed. Thereโs less of a competitive vibe as say New York or L.A. Iโm also digging the masks as weโre all equally mysterious. I think Iโm just a tad bit bored and yes, I wear whatever the hell I want. This lady from Portland sincerely appreciates your article. Merรงi
I hear ya Merci! My mood may say no makeup and sunglasses. Lol!
Nikki lol gotta love how you think you’re not the one who is uptight, what with thinking women above a certain age should just disappear in a sea of beige, high collars and long sleeves. It’s people like you who make other people insecure, sadly. The only perk is that usually women over 30 have more self esteem and can smell the bs a mile away and respond accordingly, hence these amazing comments I’ve been reading!
Love this comment! I too was browsing idly and came across this article. Then I read the comments section and was stunned by people’s reactions! I am 38 and pretty much wear what I like. I enjoyed looking at styles much more conservative than anything I’d normally wear, ( I’m from Cornwall, U.K. so very beachy vibe here!) It made me laugh when I finally read this comment that reflected exactly what I was thinking! I.e. Chill out! Love yourselves ladies.x
Awfull and untrue.
Beige at 35 ? Older woman ?
Ridiculous
Had to laugh at the title: “What looks good on 35 old women.” Only on those 35? Who are those 35 anyway? What about the rest of us?
ps: I’m 74 and I think the little girl who wrote this is full of BS.
“Older women” yeah because being 35 makes you decrepit. Who wrote this article, a fifteen years old? :’D
Also, really women in their thirties should wear only neutrals, no prints, no printed t-shirts, no anything, even the jeans have to be dark! So boring, when the time will come and I will be 35 I’ll never ditch color or prints,
1 because I’m not into bold colors or prints anyway and still this article is telling me softer colors and fine prints too are unfit for 35 like really :/
2 because it’s so friggin sad thinking that you should dress like you’re a widowed matron of 85 living in Sicily in the 50’s, thanks but I choose to live a little longer with what I love wearing the most :’)
May I add this beautiful quote
“Donโt go for neon shades, itโs stupid.”
Yeah, don’t you hate when your q.i. drops every time you wear something neon after a certain age? Sadly there is no cure for that, so sad :'(
Luckily these beautiful articles full of intelligent remarks will help your damaged old lady brain to get back on track! ๐
I liked almost everything you recommend.
I will NEVER stop wearing my graphic Tee’s!!!!!
Join the movement! Lol.
Thank you! Iโm 42 and love graphic tees and practically live on the website unique vintage and ModCloth. All these comments let me know .. one day Iโm going to be 65 in my fave band shirt and a pair of converse shoes (prob be buried in my converse ๐๐) Iโm currently sporting purple hair (if stuffy old Walgreens have commercials of old ladies getting purple hair for their class reunion ) weโre all going to be okay lol.
๐คฃ ” May I add this beautiful quote”
“Don’t go for neon shades, its stupid.”๐
I’m starting to feel a little sorry for whoever wrote this. You ladies are tearing them apart!!! There were lots of lovely ideas, mystery writer. Thankyou.
Wth? Fashion is Fashion. It doesn’t have an age. Dress according to the person you are, not your age. Who invented that?
Thank you ! ๐ซถ Iโ m 47, Iโm french, and Iโm on Instagram ๐ Iโm not the only one ๐ Itโs solenenyg_
As an elderly 35 year old I find your style is extremely dated.
