lots of good examples in one article, i love it. can i wear a simple shirtdress at the class? I am a teacher of math for 6 classes and i want to wear a simple black midi dress.
One should also consider what grade is being taught and the movements required for your day. I would say, if a teacher is planning to have students seated on the floor in front of them, then the length of the dress/skirt needs to be over the knees when sitting down. Test it out. Students on the floor see a lot more than you think. If I think length will be in question I either save it for a different occasion other than work, or I put a pair of skin colored slip shorts/bike shorts underneath (a tip from all those moms who put their girls in dresses and shorts/leggings)…it has saved me a few would be immodest moments in the classroom. In general, I would avoid too short of anything for any grade level. I also test out my shirts by leaning over and trying to figure out what a student would see. I wear a camisole or clothing tape if I think something is questionable (this goes for all situations). Some of these pictures are clearly not tried and tested by real public school teachers. Maybe in higher ed, but not public school. Also, I would say that the denim skirt, v-neck and aviator glasses are a little too much for a teacher. I think it is kind of the whole outfit that does not exude. It looks more like a date. I think it is the shoes that really puts it over the top and not really for a teacher. I am a curvy girl too and would tone this one down with a long sweater maybe if keeping the shoes. I don’t really feel like the shoes are a fit for a classroom teacher, but that is just me. These days there seems to be a little bit more of a relaxed dress code for teachers, but not so everywhere. Look up your the dress code for your school district to be sure. Last year I accidentally wore my flip flops to school. No one said a thing. I would have been written up at my last job had I done the same thing. So check to be sure.
